What workplace challenges can VisionMining workshops and presentations address?
Photography, as we use it, is a highly flexible tool that helps you explore a wide variety of issues and challenges, such as how to:
  • Promote an agile, problem-solving, innovation-oriented culture. Revisit assumptions, methods and business models; view problems as opportunities.
  • Apply specific techniques that help generate new ideas ... for products, services, improved efficiency, and more.
  • Overcome the fear of taking reasonable risks; discover how mistakes and failures can contain the seeds of revenue producing ideas.
  • Infuse a greater sense of initiative, urgency, responsibility and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Strengthen teamwork, leadership, mentoring and inter-personal skills.
  • Stimulate greater use of right-brain qualities like imagination, spontaneity, and playfulness to generate unconventional solutions.
  • Look for useful and novel connections between seemingly unrelated things.
  • Expand self-awareness and ability to hear and accept constructive criticism.
  • Transcend self-imposed limitations, for example, "I have no creative aptitude" and "Generating new ideas is not in my job description."
  • Develop a productive structure for brainstorming sessions.
  • Encourage clear communication that is supportive and inclusive.
  • Benefit from diversity of age, gender, specialty, etc.; avoid a "silo" mentality.
  • Broaden the pool of "idea" people by encouraging everyone to contribute.
  • Find productive energy in transitions and conflicts, e.g., when different cultures are merged.
  • Reduce the complacency or hubris that often flows from success.
  • Stay focused on strategic objectives; avoid excessive attention on minutiae and short-term goals.
  • Pay closer attention to the needs of customers and clients.
  • Recognize the value of incremental improvements as well as major breakthroughs.
  • Accept—and embrace—uncertainty, ambiguity and paradox.
  • Appreciate the value of differentiating yourself and your organization (and it's products or services) from others.
Tell us about what issues and problems most affect you—whether from the above list or otherwise—and we'll customize a VisionMining program to fit your needs.

Who is likely to benefit from attending VisionMining workshops and presentations?

Those in business, non-profits and government who need more innovation by broadening perspectives, sharpening critical and creative thinking, enhancing teamwork or improving leadership skills.

How long are VisionMining workshops and presentations?

Workshops are generally a half-day or longer; presentations are generally one-hour. We can customize the length of each, depending on your particular interests and needs.

Are workshops part of an ongoing process or are they strictly "stand alone?"
While workshops are designed to stand alone, they are of even greater value when there is follow-up activity that reviews the initial workshop's objectives and reinforces attitudinal and behavioral change. Furthermore, follow-on workshops can also include additional, customized exercises directed toward other objectives.

Is there an ideal size for a workshop group?
Programs can be adjusted to the size of the group and multiple workshops can be taught over the course of several days. For a typical four-hour workshop, 12-20 is an optimum size; sessions larger than 30 may require a VisionMining associate instructor. Alternatively, we can train individuals within your organization to help lead workshops.

Do workshops provide any "take-aways"?
Shortly after the conclusion of a workshop, we deliver a personalized PowerPoint "slide show" that connects participants' images with ideas, thoughts and questions raised during the workshop. This slide show reinforces the workshop and stimulates further thinking; we can lead this post-workshop discussion, or you can do that internally.

How much do presentations and workshops cost?
We are committed to providing exceptional value to our clients. Let us know your objectives, the size and makeup of the group, and we'll work with you to promptly develop a proposal.
Special Note: Presentations and workshops are VisionMining's intellectual property, so videotaping fees are extra.

Do you have a location preference?
Presentations can, of course, be held anywhere. Workshops benefit from certain "atmospherics." We can definitely work at a company retreat location or at our headquarters in Chesapeake City, MD; we may be able to work at or near your office. Although Chesapeake City is mid-way between Baltimore and Philadelphia--and just two hours from DC and two and a half from New York City--our historic, waterfront town feels like a world away.

Are workshops dependent on weather?
No. Some of our exercises are customarily done outdoors, but can be moved inside if necessary.

Does VisionMining provide cameras for workshops?
Yes.

How do we reserve a date?
After discussing the scope of your customized VisionMining program, we'll then work with you on an appropriate deposit to reserve a date, and establish other payment terms.
